“Jesus took with him Peter and James and his brother John and led them up a high mountain, by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became bright as light.” Matthew 17:1-2

What is the Transfiguration?

The Feast of the Transfiguration celebrates one of the most mysterious moments in Jesus’ ministry. On a mountaintop, Peter, James, and John catch a glimpse of Christ’s glory as Jesus is transfigured before them, shining with divine light while Moses and Elijah appear beside him. Overwhelmed by what they witness, the disciples struggle to find words.

The Transfiguration reminds us that in Jesus we encounter the very presence of God. It’s a moment of revelation – a glimpse of who Christ truly is – that prepares the disciples for the journey ahead.

Celebrate the Eve of the Transfiguration

The Feast of the Transfiguration falls on Thursday, August 6. We’ll celebrate the Eve of the Transfiguration on Wednesday, August 5, at 5:30pm in the parish hall.

Unlike most Wednesday Eucharists, this service will include music and hymns. Join us as we celebrate this principal feast of the Church together.
