Lifting up and enhancing our worship through music.

The music at St. Philip’s is beautiful, and it offers opportunity for both expression of belief and meditation.

Music at St. Philipโ€™s

There are many ways to contribute to St. Philip’s Music Ministries:

Adult Choir

The Adult Choir sings weekly at the 11 AM worship service and on major feasts days. The choir is mix of parishioners and non-parishioners; volunteers, choral scholars, and professional singers. Our choir members spend hours each week perfecting musical praises to God. Whether you consider yourself a novice or an expert, there is probably a place for you. We can teach you what you need to know.

The adult choir practices Wednesday evenings from 7:30โ€“9pm during the program (academic) year, and Sunday mornings from 10โ€“10:45am throughout the year.

Parish Instrumentalists

The Parish Instrumentalists play weekly at the 9 AM service and help lead hymns and service music. If you’re proficient with an acoustic instrument, there may be opportunities for you to play in worship on a regular or irregular basis.ย

Family Choir

The multi-generational Family Choir is for youngest singers and an adult family member โ€“ children of any age and an adult participate together. Children are introduced to church music and occasionally sing during worship services.

Children 2+ and an adult caregiver. The Family Choir meets Wednesday evenings 6โ€“6:25pm during the program (academic) year.

Junior Choir

The Children’s Choir is for elementary to middle school singers. Children learn healthy singing practices and music theory. They apply these skills to church music and occasionally sing during worship services.

Childrenย of reading age. The Junior Choir meets Wednesday evenings 6:30โ€“7pm during the program (academic) year.

Handbell Choir

Handbells are for all ages. Music literacy instruction included: Participants focus on rhythm and learn other elements of music theory. They occasionally play during worship services.

Anyoneย of reading age. The Handbell Choir meets Wednesday evenings 6โ€“6:45pm during the program (academic) year.

Music Library and more

Non-performers can also help out the music ministry! We’re in need of people to help organize and maintain the music library, choir room, and choir office. These regular tasks could be accomplished with minimal training and would be a huge help.
