Family Ministries Assistant / Youth Minister
St. Philip’s Episcopal Church’s Family Ministries is seeking part-time assistance with administrative tasks and youth ministries.
This position could be filled by one person (15-20 hours/week), or split between two people, with one focusing on administrative support (5-10 hours/week) and the other on youth ministries (5-10 hours/week). The Family Ministries Assistant/Youth Minister will work with and at the direction of the Minister for Families. Compensation is $23/hour.
The Youth Ministry work is focused on youth (grades 6-12), helping them to explore their identities, develop their gifts, and discern God’s call to them within the church and the wider Durham community. Using the Journey to Adulthood (J2A) curriculum, the Youth Assistant will assist with implementing programming for youth formation classes and in planning youth gatherings and explorations that are relevant and practical for today’s teens. Other priorities will include training and coordinating volunteer youth leaders. Sunday mornings, occasional weekend and evening events, and some holidays are required.
The Administrative Assistant work focuses on wider programmatic needs, such as facilitating registrations, maintaining rosters, helping with communications, and prepping materials. Much of this work can be done remotely.
