Palm Sunday

Sunday, March 29, 2026

A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds … were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

Matthew 21:8–9

Palm Sunday is the day we remember Jesus triumphantly entering Jerusalem, hailed as king. In ancient times, kings were welcomed with palm branches strewn before them and waved in the air. The people welcoming Jesus greeted him as a leader they hoped would free them from Roman rule, shouting “Hosanna” (or “save now”).

As we walk with Jesus through Holy Week, we’ll reenact that triumphant entry – and all that followed after.

Intergenerational Holy Eucharist with Passion Story

Congregation stands outside in a courtyard; a girl in a red robe waves a palm frond while others look at bulletins and a path strewn with red fabric.

8:30am • Garden Close & Parish Hall

This service will start outside in the garden close, where we’ll wave our own palm branches as we remember the crowd surrounding Jesus. After processing inside, we’ll hear readers tell the story of Jesus’ passion. This service uses inclusive language and is planned for all ages, and it includes music and Holy Eucharist.
