Through our Christian Education offerings, our children discover what it means to be loved by God and what it means to love God in an inclusive and affirming Christian context.

Catechesis 2024-25

Please register your children for 2024-25 formation. Registration helps our catechists plan their classrooms. We ask for contact information and basic information about your child – there are no costs. Thank you!

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is offered to children birth through sixth grade. CGS meets on Sunday mornings from 9:50-10:50 am on second floor of the parish house. (CGS does not meet during the summer.)

The program is Montessori-based and divided into three levels, with each level meeting in its own space called an “atrium”:

  • Good Shepherd Parent-Child Atrium is for children birth through kindergarten* and at least one parent/caregiver. Children and adults will be introduced to the Good Shepherd, core parables, and key elements of worship through prayer, presentations, and play. The Good Shepherd Atrium meets in the largest of the atria (in the middle of the second floor hallway) and Emily Sparks and Emily Yeatts serve as the catechists.
  • True Vine Atrium is for children in 1st through 3rd grade.* Children will begin to connect the actions of God in time. The central image for this age is the parable of the True Vine, an image of oneness with Jesus and all creation. The True Vine Atrium meets in the atrium closest to the stairs by the breezeway entrance and Louise Lavine serves as the catechist.
  • Golden Thread Atrium is for children in 4th through 6th grade. The focus here is on the plan of God in history – a plan of communion – and our response to the gifts of God. Children at this age will explore “Who is God, and who am I?”. The Golden Thread Atrium meets in the atrium closest to the stairs by the parish offices and Robin Kneeburg serves as the catechist.

* Children in kindergarten are invited to participate in either the Good Shepherd atrium with a parent/caregiver or the True Vine atrium. Any child who wishes to participate in atrium with a parent/caregiver may join the Good Shepherd atrium.

Intergenerational Ministries

In addition to Sunday mornings, we find time for children, youth, and families to gather together for fellowship and community service throughout the year.
