Regardless of your official membership status – you are welcome here!
If you have been baptized, confirmed, or received at St. Philip’s, you are already a member. However, if you’ve come to St. Philip’s from another worshipping community, or if you have not been baptized, then you may become a member through one of the following ways: baptism, confirmation or reception, or by transferring your membership from another Episcopal congregation.
Membership Directory
Members of St. Philip’s can access information in the parish database maintained by Realm. This directory is meant only for personal communication between St. Philip’s members. St. Philip’s endeavors to protect our members’ privacy and does not allow this database to be used for personal, political, or commercial solicitation.
Baptism
St. Philip’s offers baptisms four times a year. All ages are welcome. If you are interested in baptism for you or your child, please contact the clergy.
Confirmation and Reception
A baptized adult can make a public and mature affirmation of their faith through confirmation or reception. Confirmation/reception is an important component of membership as only those ages 16 or over who have been confirmed or received can vote and run for the vestry at our annual meeting. We offer confirmation classes on a routine basis. Please contact the clergy for more information.
Membership Transfers
As an Episcopalian from another congregation, you can become a member of St. Philip’s by transferring your membership. There are two ways to initiate your membership transfer: (1) Contact your former parish and ask them to transfer your membership here, or (2) email office@stphilipsdurham.org and ask us to initiate the transfer. It’s a simple process that we’re happy to help with!
