Join the Racial Justice and Reconciliation Ministry for a presentation of Sweet Chariot by the Virginia Repertory Company. This event will be held at Hayti Heritage Center (804 Fayetteville St.) on February 11 from 6:00-8:30. The performance itself will include stage readings of oral histories from the 1930 slave narrative project and a capella spirituals. It is sponsored by Hayti Heritage Center and Carolina Theater.
There will be a reception from 6-7 PM, followed by the performance from 7-8 PM, and a panel discussion from 8-8:30. The panel will be led by NC State Assistant Professor of History Ebony Jones and Folklorist and singer Mary D. Williams.
The event is free, BUT you have to register and get a free ticket in advance. This can be done online at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/carolina-theatre-hayti-present-sweet-chariot-tickets-84361117373.
It would be great if St. Philipians could meet in the lobby during the reception, and all sit together!
