Join St. Philip’s and St. Titus’ Episcopal churches in a pilgrimage to Stagville – formerly one of the state’s largest plantations, now a state historic site dedicated to teaching about the lives of enslaved people. This powerful tour will change the way you think about race and history in Durham.

Historic Stagville includes remnants of the one of the largest plantations in North Carolina. At Stagville, the Bennehan-Cameron family owned approximately 30,000 acres of land and claimed ownership over about 900 enslaved people.
We’ll take a tour of the grounds and buildings (note there’s uneven terrain without seating). After the tour, we’ll have an optional discussion over lunch (lunch provided).
The tour is open to those middle-school-aged and older (parents, please discuss attending with older youth).
Free. Donations toward Stagville Historic Foundation welcome. Carpooling available.
