Join us in our spring pilgrimage to Stagville! This powerful tour will change the way you think about race and history in Durham.
Historic Stagville includes remnants of the one of the largest plantations in North Carolina. At Stagville, the Bennehan-Cameron family owned approximately 30,000 acres of land and claimed ownership over about 900 enslaved people. Stagville is dedicated to teaching about the lives and work of enslaved people on the plantation.
We’ll take a tour of the grounds and buildings (note there’s uneven terrain without seating). After the tour we’ll have an optional discussion over a bring-your-own lunch.
The tour is open to middle schoolers and older. Parents, please discuss attending with older youth. Space is limited, so make sure to sign up by April 17!
Free. Donations toward Stagville Historic Foundation welcome. Carpooling available.
