Exciting Staff News!

Dear beloved community at St. Philips,

I am pleased to share the following news concerning our wonderful staff!

As we announced in all three of our services this morning, the Rev. Gabe Lamazares is now our permanent Associate Rector, effective immediately. Gabe joined St. Philip’s in January 2021 and is pleased and excited to continue his ministry with us. Speaking for myself, the staff, and anyone who has experienced his leadership and pastoral presence in our congregation, we are thrilled to oblige!

We are also transitioning Nia Oxley’s role from Temporary Parish Administrator, a position she has held since May, into a permanent full-time agreement. Again, speaking for myself, our staff, and those that have grown to know her in the congregation, we honor her work with us and are excited that she is continuing in this role.

Lastly, our Deacon, the Rev. Jill Staton Bullard, will be taking a much-needed sabbatical starting Monday, November 22, 2021. Jill has been an integral part of taking care of the congregation during this pandemic and transition. We wish her the best for this time of rest and rejuvenation!

My friends, while these announcements may bring joy, they are also a reminder of the many losses and adjustments that we have experienced during this time of pandemic and leadership changes. I invite you to join us next Sunday, November 7, at 10 AM for the Adult Forum as we begin a listening conversation that will explore not only our losses but our blessings and hopes for the future. If you have not been back to church yet, please join us next Sunday for a time of community togetherness. A special program for children will be offered in the Garden Close to allow all adults and youth to be present for this important gathering.

Warmly,

The Rev. Maryann D. Younger
Rector, St. Philip’s Episcopal Church
