Every year the Urban Ministries of Durham Collaborative at St. Philip’s invites the congregation to help Share Your Christmas with the shelter residents.
This year we have agreed to provide 150 small folding umbrellas for all the residents of the shelter. There may be as many as 100 male and 50 female residents at Christmas, so we are asking for that many umbrellas. Umbrellas for men should probably be black or dark blue, or maybe gray or dark green. For the women we can get more colorful, like red, yellow or bright blue.
In addition, UMD already has about 80 backpacks for men, in black, and we have agreed to try to provide 48 additional backpacks for women, with many color possibilities.
We ask that all purchases be brought to St. Philip’s by Sunday, December 8th, so that we can make up any shortfalls before the party on the 14th.
Thank you for being willing to help make Christmas bright for our neighbors at the UMD shelter.
