St. Philip’s will offer a hybrid of services this year, including live-stream, as well as indoor and outdoor options. 

Pre-registration will be required for all services, and masks must be worn at all times regardless of vaccine status.

  • Sunday of the Passion: Palm Sunday
    March 28 
    The first day in Holy Week, Palm Sunday is the Sunday before Easter at which Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem and Jesus’ Passion on the cross are recalled.

    From early times Christians have observed the week before Easter as a time of special devotion. Join the clergy for Evening Prayer on Zoom at 5:30 PM as we prepare to celebrate the Triduum.

  • Maundy Thursday, Garden Watch 
    April 1
    Maundy Thursday services commemorate the institution of the eucharist by Jesus “on the night he was betrayed.” The beginning of the Triduum, the term Maundy comes from the Latin mandatum novum, meaning “new commandment.” This service is often celebrated with a Foot Washing, an outward-facing example of Jesus’ “new commandment” for his disciples to love one another, as he had loved them.

  • Good Friday
    April 2
    The Friday before Easter Day, on which the church commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus. The liturgy of the day includes John’s account of the Passion gospel and a solemn form of intercession known as the solemn collects.

  • Holy Saturday – Easter Vigil
    April 3
    Also known as the Great Vigil, this service and liturgy are intended as the first celebration of Easter in the BCP. The service consists of four parts: The Service of Light, The Service of Lessons, the Renewal of Baptismal Vows, and the Eucharist. Through this liturgy, the BCP recovers an ancient practice of keeping the Easter feast.

  • Easter Day
    April 4
    The annual feast of Christ’s resurrection, and the beginning of the Great Fifty Days (Easter Eve through Pentecost). During this season the word “Alleluia” is said or sung repeatedly, which contrasts sharply with the season of Lent when the Alleluia is omitted.
