Discover the sacred woven through everyday life in this day-long retreat on Celtic Christianity – a tradition rooted in creation, connection, and the divine within.

The Rev. Bill Livingston of Brevard, NC, will lead a day retreat exploring Celtic Christianity. The day will include teaching, reflection, and worship. We’ll discuss:

  • The origins of Celtic Christianity and how it developed independently from the Roman Catholic Church
  • Celtic Christianity’s theological differences from Western Orthodox Christianity: its emphasis on the divine within each of us, the sacredness of creation, experiencing God in the ordinary, and God’s desire for Oneness or Harmony of all things
  • Why Celtic Christianity disappeared, its resurgence, and significant symbology in Celtic art

We’ll also worship together, experiencing liturgies reflecting Celtic Christianity’s deep connection to nature, harmony, and the sacred woven through all things.

Retreat leader: The Rev. Bill Livingston

The Rev. Bill Livingston is an Episcopal priest with a deep love for the Celtic Christian tradition. He says, “As I explored Celtic Christianity, the more intrigued I became. I found answers to my struggles with Western Orthodox Christianity. I experienced God more deeply through Celtic Christianity’s emphasis on the divine within every human being and in creation, the Oneness of all things, and experiencing God in the ordinary but also ‘thin places’ where we have a deeper awareness of God’s presence.” Bill regularly leads retreats and monthly Celtic Eucharist Hikes at Kanuga Conference Center.
