Stewardship Ministry Opportunities

Stewardship Prayer

Heavenly Father, Give us the faith and through faith the strength to embody your abundance in our lives, in your beloved community of St. Philip’s, and in this world. Amen

COMMUNITY STEWARDSHIP MEETINGS

These are small-group meetings, led by the Rector, members of the Stewardship Committee, and the Vestry, to talk about our ministries together, the ministries’ needs for funding and how each of us can support that good work.  They also offer open discussion and guidance about how your family can consider giving.  Every member of the congregation should attend one of these sessions:

·      Sunday, October 18, 2 p.m.

·      Sunday, October 18, 7 p.m.

·      Wednesday, October 21, 6:30 p.m.

·      Sunday, October 25, 10 a.m.

Commitment Sunday  November 8

The Church, Ecclesia, is nothing more than the fellowship of those joined in Christ’s love.  It is a beloved community drawn together to proclaim and share Christ’s love for all people in and through the time, talent and treasure of those gathered in His name.

Nowhere is this more clearly expressed than in Baptism, the fundamental sacrament of Christian identity.  As expressed through our baptismal liturgy, this community “affirms that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are given to all [its] members so that ministry can be understood as shared by all people, whether lay or ordained.”[1]

In keeping with our baptismal identity and our sacramental life as Episcopalians that serves to make outward and visible things inward and spiritual, we will celebrate our life in Christ by designating Sunday, November 8th as commitment Sunday.  During worship each of us will be invited to come forward to lay an individual and confidential pledge card (NOT MONEY) on the altar as an outward sign of our gratitude to God for all God has given us while making known our commitment to one another in living out that gratitude in this our beloved community.

Stewardship Mission Statement

The Stewardship Committee is devoted to the cultivation of stewardship as a ministry of the beloved community of St. Philip’s. This ministry seeks to discern the presence of God’s abundance in our lives and through the uplifting and graceful sharing of this abundance to strengthen and deepen our relationship with God and all creation.
